Improving the quality, equity and efficiency of education systems is a key policy objective in OECD countries. No economy in the world can afford to neglect education. Major reforms are under way as countries strive to make lifelong learning opportunities available to all. Education Policy Analysis 2005-2006 provides a window on this rich international experience with chapters on: achieving quality, equity and efficiency in higher education; policy directions for the growing international market in higher education; valuing teachers: how to meet aspirations and enhance motivation; new tools for teaching and learning: formative assessment to help all students succeed; gender differences and mathematics: performance, attitudes and motivation. Education Policy Analysis draws on international perspectives to provide analysis of key education policy challenges and initiatives.
