Confronted with persistent regional inequalities, the Federal Government of Canada has put in place a regional development policy which is particularly original by virtue of its decentralised nature, integrated character and wide-ranging application. This report reviews the activities of the four agencies concerned and shows the links established between sectoral policies and regional actions. In particular, it examines the types of measures taken and the characteristics of the assistance programmes undertaken, and evaluates the results.
