Underlying the operation of nuclear power plants are a host of activities -- collectively called infrastructure -- in design, construction, regulation, education and research. While all of these activities help ensure safe and economic production of electricity, they have been declining in many OECD countries. This publication presents the results of a Workshop on Infrastructure for Nuclear Energy Deployment organised in Paris, France, on 10-11 June 1996. It describes the recent trends and actions being taken to maintain a healthy nuclear infrastructure.
