Argentina has become one of the most welcoming hosts to foreign direct investment (FDI) in only a few years. With extensive privatisations and liberalisation of its inward investment regime, Argentina has renewed with its historic role as an important recipient of FDI, following decades of inward looking policies. It is the first non-OECD country in Latin America to adhere to the OECD Declaration on International Investment and Multinational Enterprises.
The study reviews the policies adopted by the Government of Argentina towards inward investments and commends the generally open environment in which foreign firms operate in Argentina. It also points out where there could be room for greater openness and transparency.
